From the VIII congress of Italian Architects, Planners and Landscape designers
The 8th Congress of Italian Architects, Planners and Landscape Designers, held in Rome on July 5-6-7 2018, produced a manifesto for the promotion of urban regeneration based on a well-founded and wide-spread architectural culture. With the Manifesto Architects, aware of the profound transformation cities and territories are undergoing, ask the new Government a political action for overcoming the present inadequate town planning regulations, the persisting crisis of the real estate market and the soil consumption which is becoming more and more dangerous for the preservation of Italian territory.
The Manifesto states the necessity of an Act for Architecture and Landscape as Common Heritage, expression of culture, identity and collective history.
In a time when knowledge and responsibility are fragmented, bureaucracies rule, competences are deprived of any authority, the role of architects as a creative, thinking and proposing category, bearer of a sound culture of project, looking at the future even when they deal with conservation, is determining for the betterment of the environment.
